To encourage student members of ICSA to participate and to share their research at the Symposium, ICSA will offer Student Paper Awards and Travel Grants for outstanding student papers. Please be advised that the deadline for the Student Paper Award Application is April 1, 2023.
The applicant must be an ICSA member at the time of manuscript submission, a doctoral degree candidate in any term during the academic year of 2022-2023 at an accredited institution, and be able to register and present the research work at the 2023 Applied Statistics Symposium. The paper must not have been published or accepted for publication at the time of submission.
Up to six student award winners (five Student Travel Awards, one Jiann-Ping Hsu Pharmaceutical and Regulatory Sciences Student Paper Award) will be selected. Each winner will receive a plaque or certificate, a cash award of $550, and free registration for a short course. Winners will be announced by May 15, 2023.
The required manuscript should be prepared double spaced using Biometrics or JASA guidelines for authors. Excluding tables and figures, the manuscript must be no more than 20 pages, with at least one-inch for all margins and no smaller than 12-point font. The research work must be relevant to applications in a variety of fields including biomedicine, finance, business, etc. The manuscript may be co-authored with a faculty advisor and/or a small number of collaborators, but the student must be the leading author.

All materials should be packaged into one zip file and sent by email to ICSA Student Award Committee at awardstudent2023sym@icsa.org with subject as “2023 ICSA student paper submission – [student name]”.
Each paper will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. Members of the Student Award Committee will review the received manuscript(s) based on the following criteria:
